Italian Railroads

As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians.

Italian Railroads

Post by Topper »

I know that the Italian railroads were constructed about the time of its unification in 1860. I am trying to find when, where , and how the first rail lines crossed the Appenine Mountains linking the East with the West, especially to Rome. If anyone can direct to where I can find this information, or has the information and willing to share it, I would be grateful........Topper
