US Passport Archives

Post by KrazyZia »

Hello ALL!

I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with requesting a passport application for a deceased relative from the Department of State Passport Services Research and Liaison Section.

I'm now on 4 months waiting for a reply. I'm suspicious because the fee that I paid for the information was by check and the check cleared back in December! I've called numerous times to get an update and all I get is an answering machine. I leave messages and no one calls back. I wrote a follow up letter about a month ago and still nothing...

Is this normal?? Should I stop thinking about it? Will I be pleasantly surprised with a response of some kind in the next 20 years???!!!

Any comments are welcome. Thanks!

Do you have www.ancestry.com? They have a new archive of old US Passports and applications. The only light I can shine on this is that my request with the Dept. of Homeland Security took nearly a year and rendered only an index card on my ancestor.

Thanks for the info, but it doesn't apply for this person as he only died back in 2000. ancestry.com wouldn't have that info yet.
