Death No 26: Beatrice Menozzi

Registered in Virgilio on 14 July 1899

Died yesterday (ieri), 10.04 pm in the house in Cerese Granasso, No 38, at the age of 78. She was a possidente (landowner), a resident of Cerese, living in Virgilio, and born in Bagnolo S. Thank you Angela!

Do you think that it's possible that Maddalena's last name in Beatrice's record is a clearer spelling of what we saw in Domenico's (from a little ways back) her surname was hard to decipher?

While I'm not completely convinced, but I’ll go with it, as it seems to fit much better with a different spelling of the surname that I viewed in another record mentioned here. When I first looked at the record I saw “Bottazzi” but then noticed that the “z’s” and the “r’s” were almost identical in the rest of the record. Then I saw that “Bottari” spelt with one “r” had it’s presence in the province and decided that it was more likely to be “Bottarri” – but maybe not!!!

"Slava Ukraine!" - I totally stand in agreement.

Happy to help Deigo.

To me it clearly reads Maddalena Butasi but I think that “Butasi” is an error. Either the clerk wrote down what he thought he heard or the people registering the death gave the wrong surname. I’d suggest that Domenico’s death record should have also read “Bottazzi” .
