Post by wldspirit »

It appears this website is no longer available:

http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Poin ... ename.html

I have a few others bookmarked, but not near has helpful as the above site.... :?

Hi wldspirit!
That was my favorite name site also.
This may work, from the wayback machine

http://web.archive.org/web/200711100041 ... ename.html

I'm not sure how many pages it is if anyone wanted to print it out.

Yeah, I saw that yesterday. I loved that one! The one you found looks pretty good. I used the other one ALL the time.
My Italian surnames:

Caserta: Maietta, Rossano, Tessitore, Negro, Peluso, Musone

Campobasso: D'Andrea, Barile

Catanzaro: Fiorelli/Fiorillo, Romito

Thanks Vj, I copied and pasted it to my documents, that is the original list from the first site..... :D

Haven't had a chance to read thru the other one I found, actually a compilation of three different sources, but I bookmarked it as well.

Wonder how many other dead links I have bookmarked!!

I think all geocites sites have been terminated as of October..I read this a while back but I don't remember where. The owners were given almost a year to transfer their info over to a new server.

This is why the information is available on the way back machine. I believe AOL and MSN also terminated sites over the last year or so - free sites and even googlepages is moving to a new "look" . Anyone who uses a free service should follow up to make sure their information is safe because once canceled, all information is lost - unless you find it on the wayback machine.

Oh yeah, I guess they are. Read about it here:

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/geocities/close/

I had some very helpful Geo websites :(

The wayback machine helps though.
