Marianna & Giuseppa Cacciatore

Post by Romano1970 »

I am trying to locate the following.

Giuseppa and Marianna Cacciatore. Believed to be sisters out of Mussomeli Sicilia.
Lived in Passaic NJ.

Need to locate information on the trip to America. Did they come alone or were they with parents.

Thanks guys.

To be a little more specific regarding the above. I am trying to get information about them between the years of 1911 and 1930. They originally went to the Rochester NY area after coming to America.

Michael,

It looks like they were travelling with their mother and were headed to Rochester to their father Salvatore.

Michael,

The mother's name is listed on the Ellis Island record as Lo Manto, Giuseppa. Age - 32

The address in Rochester is hard to read but looks like 405 State St.

If you go to the site you can take a look at it yourself and decide.

Just an interesting note. On the Sant'Anna manifest for a Giuseppa in 1914, she is listed as 17y, but that wouldn't be correct if she was 10y in 1911. Also, her name is crossed out. However, above her name is the name of Vincenzo Cacciatore, 25, laborer. He is going to Rochester to his brother.

Maybe these are not your relatives. Or maybe someone can connect them with a residence in NJ through the census.
Makes for some interesting research for you. Good Luck.

Hi Biff, yes I am working in colaboration with this person. However we can not seem to locate any information on these two between the years of 1911 ( when they arrived ) to the 1930 census. We do not know if they were in the Rochester area of New York until 1930 or if they were in Passaic NJ for some years. I have tried to find some kind of link in the Rochester area ( link the one Passaic County NJ has) for Naturalization paperwork. However I have not been able to find one.

The girls went with their parents to live in city of Rochester so either they went to Public School or perhaps a parochial school. It may be worth a call up there and see if there is a public school record and what parochial schools may have existed as well. Try google for Rochester Board of Education Michael. =Peter=
