I know I had a previous post about her a while back but i do have new information. I also need advice on what to do.
Angela LOBASSO born around 1890-93 Somewhere in the province of Bari Daughter of Vincenzo and Grazia Battista. The story goes that she went to Brasil to visit her brother which I don't have a name for and then moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina had a daughter my grandmother and died in 1960 in Argentina. Of all the documents that I received from argentina all it ever says is that she was italian but it never says where from. I am waiting on one document which is her marriage certificate from argentina, i'm hoping it says something different. I have also been sending out emails and checking films from LDS hoping to find her. in every document that I have from argentina it always has her mother as being Grazia Battista, in one of my emails to the comune of trani I got this responce
Figli:
1) Lobasso Giambattista n. 22-8-1883 Trani Sp.(1) Caugeli Iole a Napoli il 16-12-1911; Sp. (2) Impolea Angela a Polignano a Mare deceduto in Napoli il 11-1-1960;
2) Lobasso Antonia n. 25-4-1885 Trani deceduta il 29-11-1975 Polignano a Mare;
3) Lobasso Umberto n. 5-3-1889 Trani;
4) Lobasso Vincenzo n. 12-11-1886 Trani.
Altre notizie non risultano.
the similarities are huge, the only difference is with the last name between Battista and Abbattista, and still no angela but its possible she was born in a nearby comune. Could I assume that this is her family?
also if you look at the traditional italian naming, it would fit the their next daughter would be named after the wife's mother which is Angela like my great-grandmother.
sorry for the long email any advice is welcomed!!!!
thanks again.

Re: Help finding my great-grandmother
Chris,
I see your biggest problem is finding the town Angela Lobasso was born in. Since Trani did not provide that information, even though you know the approximate birth date, either it is not there or someone has overlooked it. When looking at a few web sites, I see that there are Lobasso's in Toritto (BA), Molfetta (BA) and Giovinazzo (BA). There is even an Angela Battista in Bari (BA). So, if you do not find the information you are seeking on her marriage record, why not send an inquiry to these other towns. Did any of her relatives emigrate to the US? If you could find them on Ellis Island, you might find the city of birth. Those are my suggestions. Good luck.
Bette

Re: Help finding my great-grandmother
my great grandmother was Angela Battista. She was born in Argentina, and was italian, and eventually moved to Italy (Vicenza). She then eventually moved to the United States.
She was born in 1913.
is this who you are looking for?

Re: Help finding my great-grandmother
I wish I could say yes, but my great grandmother's maiden name was Angela Lobasso, her mother's name was Grazia Maria Battista or Abbattista. Angela Lobasso married Marino Pizzoglio in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

While I searching for you the listing is spelled Abbatista (not double TT) inthe banca Dati and it went Kablooie before i could search it out but There was a large listing of italian immigrants arriving at Buenos Aires with that spelling. Will try later. =Peter=

Re: Help finding my great-grandmother
None of the 8 Abbatista were female entering Buenos Aires. Perhaps if I can get back to the website I can pick up Battista. Will keep you informed. =peter=
