Infusino Family- need help finding records

Post by nmaritch »

Hello,
I am looking specifically for immigration records for a Giuseppe Infusino, born in Italy in 1867 and came to the United States in 1896, His wife Filomena followed with their children in 1899. The earliest US record that I have for them is 1905 Wisconsin State census. Later his wife died, and he remarried to a woman named Curia, his father also came to the US, His name was Michael Infusino. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Nikki

Go to www.ellisisland.org and look up their entries intothe USA at NYC. Since you are looking for their immigration record this should lead you to answering your research objectives. =Peter=

Nikki,

This looks like it might be Giuseppe's ship manifest. Since it is an early one it is very difficult to read. It seems to be alphabetical and he appears on the 8th line.

Ship: SS Giava, arriving NY, March 29, 1890.
Infusino, Giuseppe, 22y, sculptor, heading to Pittsburgh (?)

Possible 1899 arrival manifest for Joseph's first Wife, Filomena Totera travelling from Marano [Marchesato] to Chicago to join her husband Infusino.
She was travelling with her child: son Achille age 14, Daughter Teresa age 11, son Michele age 11, son Emilio age 8...
Names are pretty matching with the 1905 Wisconsin state census :!:

I would have never found that 1900 census. I did find the Filomena Totera immigration record, and a record for the birth of each of their children. I did find them in the censuses, which is how I found out that Giuseppe had a second wife. My next question would be how do you find out when people died, or what happened to them between censuses. This is really a challenge when anyone who would know these people have been dead for at least a generation.

Later his wife died, and he remarried to a woman named Curia
Curia doesn't exist as female first name...
Possible her real maiden name was Cesira Barialli (even if I think Barialli is a mispelling because it doesn't exist.. :? )

Boston Passenger Lists, 1820-1943

Where did you find her name? It was listed as Cuira on the 1920 Census, which is how I knew that his first wife had died. Although when she died, I dont know. Could Cuira could have been Chiara, as I have other relatives by that name.

Where did you find her name?
on the 1915 arrival manifest for Giuseppe Infantino and his wife Cesira:
Boston Passenger Lists, 1820-1943
about Giuseppe Infusino
Name: Giuseppe Infusino
Arrival Date: 29 Nov 1915
Age: 48 Years
Estimated birth year: abt 1867
Gender: Male
Ethnic Background: Italian (South) (Italian)
Port of Departure: Naples, Italy
Ship Name: Cretic
Port of Arrival: Boston, Massachusetts
Friend's Name: Angelo Riggieri
Last Residence: Cotenza
Birthplace: Marano Marchesato, Aquila
Microfilm Roll Number: 236

http://img69.imageshack.us/i/infusino1915arrival.jpg/
I believe her name was miswritten on Ancestry.com because on the census manifest image it is pretty clearly Cesira...

I am not sure what the previous post means. I have five different census listings for Joseph as well as two passport applications. I am trying to determine when he died.
