Arcuri and Guarascio Family
Arcuri and Guarascio Family
Good morning all,
sorry to jump in the middle here, but I have been searching the web looking for people who have heritage roots in San Giovanni in Fiore
,Cosenza,Calabria,Italy.
The rugged Land of South Italy was dirt poor at the beginning of the twentieth century, when people like my grandfather Gaetano Arcuri,
my uncle Giovanni Arcuri,my aunts Barbara and Rosa Guarascio packed up their family and struck out for the New World,
like boatloads of others who fled the Calabria region's.
I am sure they were grateful to be alive thanks to the generosity offered by a foster country ,
in their case the United States of America,( I think West Virginia)
and have done their utmost to repay that kindness with honest hard-work.
Who knows or might know please let me know any news will be appreciate
Ciao to all from Italy

Re: Arcuri and Guarascio Family
Ther Arcuri surname is mostly from the Palermo Sicily area while Guarascio is mostly from Catanzaro Calabria area at www.familysearch.org under ancestor search.
If you read Italian you can also go to www.tiscali.it and put in San Giovanni in Fiore, for many items of interest. =Peter=

Re: Arcuri and Guarascio Family
Ciao to all
after discussing with my relatives, we concluded that the news regarding my aunts Rose and Barbara Guarascio are correct,
for one simple reason: his mother's name was Ursula Allevato and since this name was not very common to time we have no doubt about
If I understood well they married Mr. Marra and Mr. Martino so I have to find their descendants with this last name,
I'd love it if someone could indicate to me in which american city
Regarding John Arcuri we are still investigating and as soon as I will have news I'll write to you again, sorry if my english is not
so good as your, I hope you will able to understand me. Thanks a lot to you all
Ps If someone needs news from San Giovanni in Fiore I will do everything to make it useful

Re: Arcuri and Guarascio Family
Hello Valarie, thanks again for your invaluable help, after careful consideration of all the documents that you have kindly presented to us, we have concluded this is my uncle John Arcuri, because in fact his mother was Maria Theresa Spadafora. Therefore there is just one John Arcuri, perhaps for reasons unknown to us has changed his surname to Arcure. Thanks again hopefully with your valuable help we can find in America some of his descendants. By the way I have already found one cousin, niece of my aunt Barbara Guarascio .Thanks again
