Hi and welcome to the forum,
You did not say which town in Italy you need records for? But here is a site that may help.

Re: Church records in Italy
If I may ask, what records are you hoping to obtain? Churches are a good place for baptismal records and for very early birth/marriage/death records. But, for anything beyond the mid-1850's (and sometimes much earlier), you may do better to inquire at the comune's Stato Civile or Anagrafe office.1stGeneration wrote:How can I get help with some body in this town ,Oppido Mammertina, in Italy to get church records there.

www.tuttitalia.it/calabria/51-oppido-mamertina is the adminstrative website . Scroll down to MUNICIPIO which is the address for the Ufficio di Stato Civile for requesting documents.

If you have not already used this resource, the LDS records at your local Family History Center include films from Oppido Mamertina (1809-1910)

Re: Church records in Italy
Ufficio dello Stato Civile should easily have birth/marriage/death records back into the 1870's and further depending on the comune. If they don't, there is a chance you are barking up the wrong tree (that is, researching in the wrong comune).1stGeneration wrote:I need records from about 1928 back as far as they can.

As for church records, your best bet for dealing with these is to hire a local genealogist/researcher. I know, expensive, but whereas comuni are required by law to provide these documents in a timely manner, success when dealing with churches is hit or miss.

Re: Church records in Italy
Dear First Generation I hope you requested the documents in Italian language and not in English, The service is normally free but you have to submit one application for each document. Church records research can be unpredictable and can cost money in excess of $20.00 for each document since before the dollar took a nose dive it used to be considered $15.00 per document based upon the Mormon church advice.
Now if you wish to try with these form letters go to this website:
http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters,html
You also have to take into consideration Italy Privacy Laws which permit public viewing starting around 1910. Anything later may not be available.

Re: Church records in Italy
I got records from the Stato di Civile allready. They don't seem to have the records of my family. I was told to write to the church in Tresilico and Oppido Mamertina,in the province of Reggio Calabria. Any tips on how and to whom to write to there?
Thanks ,
Joe
