trying to read surname

Post by LindaAnn »

I am trying to figure out a name (among other things). The record is from Pescatina- Last name looks like Givespini- any idea if that is a possibility?

Thanks.

See if anything on this list looks like a likely suspect.

Giuseppina is a good possibility. It is one of two feminine forms of Giuseppe; Giuseppa being the other.

Thanks to both of you! It may be the Giacopini- it is a church record from Pescantina but I can't make out the handwriting very well. Many more names to try and figure out. Birth and baptism of my great great grandfather.

THanks.

Hi!
Agree with suanj :D , Giacopini seems the most likely

This may help
http://italia.indettaglio.it/eng/cognomi/cognomi.html
You can search with as few as 4 letters by region
Once you're in the region page you can narrow the results down by comune

So, I just looked at the header again and realized we are supposed to be taking about surnames, not given names.

Oops!

Forget everything I said. :)

Raffaella/Valarie: the actual document is in this post. I am not so certain about Giacopini.

Note that there is a witness (possibly a godparent) listed on the second line of the posted record who carried the surname Giacopini and seems to be a sibling of the mother.

The document was translated by Lucap and the surname is definitely Giacopini.
