Totonno...My name is Patrick Angotti. I have been researching the families from San Giovanni in Fiore, who settled in the Clarksburg, Fairmont and Morgantown areas of West Virginia. My family went from San Giovanni to Cerenzia to Clarksburg and then to Morgantown.
I also have a couple sites on Facebook...the Angotti Surname Project and Southern Italian Genealogy Network. Feel free to join if you have a FB account.
Hi Valarie and you all, thanks to your help I am in contact with a few cousins from Martino and Marra family , waiting for news of some Arcuri I contacted on Facebook, thanks again for your invaluable contribution .
My grandfather Giovanni Ferrari (born 1887) came to Canada from San Giovanni in Fiore in 1912. His brother Francesco went to West Virginia. Other siblings were Barbera and Maria Teresa. Their parents were Giuseppe and Teresa. Somehow along the way in my search I had linked the Allevato name to Giovanni Ferrari's (possibly a spouse??)
I don't have much more information than that, but I figured you'd be interested since you were looking for that particular town.
Thank you for the information you have provided. If you are interested in the Allevato family from San Giovanni in Fiore you can contact Mr. Biagio Allevato on facebook. He has many relatives in Canada.
Hello my name is Jacob arcure and I was doing research for my last name heritage and stumbled across this post I really wanted to know if arcuri and arcure are related, several members in my family told me that our family changed it from arcuri to arcure because the U.S. Wanted it to sound more American if you could help that would be great message me at j8cub@yahoo.com thank you.
You're right the surname Arcuri was sometimes changed by the officials at Ellis Island, can you tell me your ancestors were from and in what small town they lived in Italy, the town San Giovanni in Fiore reminds you something?
