Does Italy have records of their citizens who boarded ships?

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Peter, why would you go to
1- www.poliziadistato.it/scrivici
2- Click on English
3- Click on Passaporto
4- Click on SCRIVICI (which brings you back to step 1 - www.poliziadistato.it/scrivici )

Steps 2, 3 and 4 are not needed.

Peter,

I sent a message as you said. Hopefully they can give me just a place of origin. Thank you so much for the tip!

In your post about finding all Passaros, have you seen stevemorse.org instead of ellisisland.org? You can look by surname, first names, partial names, towns of origin, ports of emigration and combinations of any of these. I used the "Gold" option and found good information, even mis-spellings.
Looking for Biagianti, Modesti & Vincenti in Tuscany and Tomaino, Curcio, Mazza, & Rizzo in Calabria
