Mattora/Trotta matrimoni
Mattora/Trotta matrimoni
Hi,
I found this matrimoni for my grandmother's cousin. From what I could understand, does it say Angelo's father Matteo is deceased? If so, I still need the rest translated.
Thank you,
Jim

Re: Mattora/Trotta matrimoni
This does say that Matteo is deceased.
1884 May 10
Angelo Mattora, 26 (?), farmer, born in SMCV
son of deceased Matteo and deceased Antonia di Lorenzo
to
Margherita Trotta 21, farmer, born in Curti
daughter of deceased Nicola and Caterina Pensperio (?)
It looks like this marriage took place in Curti. The introductory notes seem to be a notation that this information was sent from Curti to SMCV.
The rest of the document looks to be mostly about the documents, consent, witnesses, etc.
I will defer to Livio or Lucap if you need a word-for-word translation.

Re: Mattora/Trotta matrimoni
I have these documents in jpeg format. They are treated like pictures in my computer. How does someone highlight a small part of the document to blow it up on the forum. I would like to show a larger version of Caterina's surname on the forum. Otherwise I would like to e-mail my jpeg file for interpretation.
Your help, please.
Thank you,
Jim

I've used the editor in photobucket to crop and enlarge. Then I use the link code for full image to post on the forum.

I was unsuccessful using your suggestion. This is an experiment for me. See if this image is larger.

Re: Mattora/Trotta matrimoni
Is Caterina's surname easier to read? I hope so.

Try with this site: http://www.gens.labo.net/it/cognomi/genera.html
Fill in the field "cognome" with Pomponio, Pensperio or Peusperio and see the results.

Re: Mattora/Trotta matrimoni
I agree with Luca, the surname is Pomponio although it looks slightly different but this is due to the deterioration of the document when copied several times. In addition, the surname Pomponio exists while Pensperio, or whatever it could look, doesn't exist.

Re: Mattora/Trotta matrimoni
It looks like Pomponio is the only legitimate Italian name. I would not have drawn that conclusion from just looking at that handwriting. However, since I probably won't be pursuing Caterina's branch of my tree, it just becomes a distant relative's name.
