great great grandfathers birth cert
Re: great great grandfathers birth cert
I am stuck on a few things in the document. What it says after nella casa. I see the Don Vincenzo, but can't make out the word before that and also am not sure about the rest of that line.
I also can't make out the last name of the first witness. Otherwise I can pretty much translate the entire page.

I can read some but not all of the document-
The document is dated on Feb 25, 1859 at 4 P.M. before me, Marco ? (not sure about his last name), mayor of the civil state of Roccaromana of the province of Terra di Lavoro. Appearing before him was Michele di Lorenzo, the son of deceased Antonio di Lorenzo, age 35, of profession ?, who was living in Roccaromana. He was the one who presented to us a baby that we recognized as the same one who had been born to Maria Caterina Diana, age 40, who was living with her husband, the informant, Michele di Lorenzo, age 35, a day laborer. The baby was born on the 24th of the above month at 9 a..m. in the house ????
The presentation and the announcement were made in the presence of Michele ?, a farmhand living in Roccaromana, and Francesco Pecoraro, a farmhand living in Roccaroma, witnesses who intervened in the present act and who were the same ones produced by Mr. Di Lorenzo.
The present act was read to the informant and to the witnesses and signed by us (the town officials), having stated that the informants and witnesses did not know how to write.

The baby was baptized on the 25th of Feb. The baptism information appears in the right column of the record.

awesome! I could make out barely enough to know I had the correct birth certificate... I hope to produce a translated version of this, to keep with a copy of this... so both can be viewed by future generations...

Re: great great grandfathers birth cert
correct and noted. thank you Livio!!
Re: great great grandfathers birth cert
You are correct, Llivio, it does say sua moglie. I still can't decipher the rest of the part about where the baby was born. nella casa.... Are you having any luck with that part of the document?
Re: great great grandfathers birth cert
Maybe: casa rurale di Don Vincenzo Berotta detta Castigliolamaestra36 wrote:was born. nella casa....

Re: great great grandfathers birth cert
After the part I can't decipher, it says:
The same one was said to give to the baby the name of Ferdinando.
Sorry I had omitted this part. This sentence precedes the part the presentation and statement of the witnesses.

Re: great great grandfathers birth cert
so would Castigliola then be the name of this Don Vincenzo Berotta's rural or country house?

Re: great great grandfathers birth cert
So the translation should read that the baby was born at 9 a.m. in Don Vincenzo Berotta's rural house which was called Castigliola.
Thank you, Livio.
