Re: Simmaco Martora morti
The document is dated Oct 5, 1882 at 8 a.m. The infant died at the age of three months and two days. He had been born in the city. Informants were his father Francesco Gennaro, a 50 year old farmer, and Giuseppe Gennaro, age 33, also a farmer living in the town. The baby died on the 4th at 11 P.M. in the house on via Anfiteatro. His father, Gennaro, was a farmer living in this city (he was one of the informants on the record). His mother was Giuseppa Caserta, also a farmer living in the city.
Don't know why the baby's last name is different from the father's, but maybe you do.

Re: Simmaco Martora morti
Maybe his wife's child from a previous marriage of hers?

Re: Simmaco Martora morti
Are you sure about the baby's father not being reflected in the birth record and what was the baby's last name,if any,on the document ?? =Peter=

Re: Simmaco Martora morti
Too early in the morning for me, Peter. The Gennaro who is the father of the child may not be the same Gennaro as the one who was the informant. In the case of the informant, Gennaro is a last name (which does exist in the current Italian phonebook for the town). In the case of of the baby's father, the last name is not given in the record and may be assumed to be the same as the baby's last name given which was Martora, so Gennaro would be the father's first name and not his last name, as I have incorrectly stated in my above entry.
Re: Simmaco Martora morti
Hi Jim,
What seems to be confusing here is that the father is actually Gennaro Martora. There are several "Gennaros" in the record...two are last names and one (the baby's father) is actually a first name.

Re: Simmaco Martora morti
I do have Gennaro Martora, 33 years, as the father on the birth act. So, that makes sense. I don't know who the other "Gennaros" are.
Thank you for the help. I missed this record the 1st time I went through the film. I had to go back and look for it.

Re: Simmaco Martora morti
Thank you for clearing that up for me. I knew about the parents, but did not understand the declarants.
