Domenico Perrotta morti
Domenico Perrotta morti
Would someone be kind enough to translate this morti. He should be the father-in-law to one of my cousins who emigrated to U.S.
Thank you,
Jim

Re: Domenico Perrotta morti
Domenico Perrotta, 45, gardener, born and living in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, son of deceased Giuseppe, tenant farmer, and deceased Rosa la Natta husband of Angela Nora Jannotta
Re: Domenico Perrotta morti
Is it possible this info could have been recorded improperly by the registrar? Domenico should be married to Rosa Iannotta. She is the mother of his children from previous documents. Have you seen this happen before?
Thank you,
Jim

Could be... no one knows!
Re: Domenico Perrotta morti
Hi Jim,
I think that Livio's translation actually says what you ask...
The deceased, Domenico, was husband of Angela Nora (I read it Rosa)
J(I)annotta. Therefore Domenico was married to "Rosa/Nora" Iannotta.
There is actually punctuation between last name of mother, and statement "husband..."

Wow, I guess maybe I'm just thick headed. Who is Domenico's mother?
I have only known his wife as Rosa J(I)annotta.
Also, can you explain the use of the "J"?
I never see it in my documents.
Thank you,
Jim

he was also husband of Angela Nora Jannotta
I and J were often interchangeable.
Tessa78, the first letter of the name Nora is very similar to the first letter of the name Natta and quite different from the first letter of Rosa...

Re: Domenico Perrotta morti
Is it conceivable that Angela Nora would be referred to as "Rosa", like a nickname or something? She is "Rosa" on the birth acts of her children. The last names of Domenico's mother and wife are so close.
Any opinions?

Re: Domenico Perrotta morti
A nickname cannot be used in birth acts.
Could also be that we are dealing with 2 Domenico Perrotta...

Hi Livio,
I do agree that the first letter of Natta is practically identical to the first letter in Nora. An "R" has a distinct difference as I view Rosa and Russo.
