Do you know any other details than her name? approximate date of birth? Where in Italy she lived? Names of children or parents? Who in the family DID come to US?

Any and all details you provide will aid us in assisting you :-)

There are an amazing number of frazioni named Sant'Egidio in Italy. One of them is in Comune di Montefusco, Provincia di Avellino, Regione di Campania (Southern Italy).

One option would be to write to Montefusco and request birth/marriage/death records.

This manifest shows a "Ciriaco Parente, age 28" arriving 1901 from Montefusco... birthdate is right...

Do you have this manifest? The name was reversed on the manifest. The line below shows "Giovanni Parente, 20" also from Montefusco.

Both are traveling to cousin Antonio Ansiero (sp?) in Bklyn...

The Giovanni on the manifest would have been born around 1881.

Your grandfather's brother Ciriaco was born in 1873. And they could have been cousins.

Their fathers could have been brothers, and the Antonio Anfiero/Ansiero they are meeting could be the son of Giovanni's sister... :-?

Oh my, YES!!!!! :-O

I would definitely follow Carmine's advice and write to the comune. When you get the documents, post them here on the translation forum and we'll help you with translation.
