Tessandori family origins

I am searching for information on the Tessandori family. Domenico, Atala, Ada, and possibly others emigrated from Italy around 1900-1905, going to Chicago. Possibly from the Lucca area. Any information on other family members or locations will be appreciated.

You can see from this map ( http://www.gens.labo.net/en/cognomi/genera.html - put the name in the Cognome box) that the Tessandori's are small in number and quite concentrated today.

The current Italian telephone directory tells us that 19 of the 20 Tessandori's with telephone listings throughout Italy are located within the province of Lucca. See http://www.paginebianche.it/execute.cgi ... &be=0&l=en

Does this manifest say place of birth is Collodi?

The only such place I see is Frazione Collodi, Comune di Pescia, Provincia di Pistoia, Regione di Toscana, Central Italy.

The province of Pistoia sits on Lucca's eastern border.

That would be it Carmine.

Just found the manifest for wife Isola, with children Giuseppe and Saida, and she lists place of birth as Collodi, and last permanent residence as Pescia(Lucca), leaving father in law there.
Destination - husband Domenico Tessandori in Chicago.

You've done a lot! All the posts appear to be the right family, with variations on spelling of names. It is great to see the ship's manifests, and the corroboration of Collodi as the town where the Tessandori family came from.
Atala and her eventual husband Vittorio Del Dotto had different cooking styles, which was supposedly because they came from different parts of Italy (Collodi and Lucca), which would be right next door by American standards.
Thank you for your efforts! I'll organize the facts I have from family and post again.

I have reviewed all I have, and I don't have anything new to add. Atala Tessandori married Vitto Del Dotto in about 1911 and they had 6 children. I need to get access (subscribe) to the ancestry.com tree, since it was probably posted by someone in the family I am not acquainted with, and may have more information going back in time. If I want to also look further into the Del Dotto line, should I post that separately or just continue here? Thanks for your help.

The Family Tree on Ancestry is labeled the "Gilbertson Family Tree"...
Owner listed as Michael Gilbertson.

As for the Del Dotto line, I would post separately as a new topic, but you can copy and paste the URL for this thread in the new post to let everyone know what research has been done so there is no wasted effort...
