Please translate birth cft...
Hi
I can't seem to capture the image at Ancestry.com but I have the page for the birth cft that I need translated. I've figured out the father and mother and the date and village. I'm very interested in any information regarding the mother. The birth record is # 30 on the right side - Antonino Allenza
http://search.ancestry.com/Browse/View. ... sid=&gskw=
I'd appreciate any help.
THanks Diana

Birth Act #30
Antonio Allenza
On 3 March 1897, at 11:30 Am at the Town hall appeared Giovanni Allenza, 23, peasant farmer, residing in Villalba, to say that at 2 PM on the 28th day of last month (February), at the house on Via Nivena (sp?) to Maria Marsala, his wife, was born a male baby, given the name of Antonio.
The words around Maria's name state that this child is from his natural union with Maria, his wife ecclesiastically (church marriage), housewife (casalingua), living in Villalba.

Re: Please translate birth cft...
Can anyone relook at the birth certificate for Antonino and see if there is an age for Maria?
Bingo on the Ciro Allenza. Definitely of the same parents as Giovanni.
What was a marriageable age in the 1890's?
I'm having a hard time finding Giovanni's and Maria's marriage cft on ancestry.com. I've gone back to 1890 when he would have been 16 and also forward (just in case the baby came before the marriage) to 1901. I know he remarried in 1904. Did they divorce back then? If not, then I should look for a death cft for Maria? at a crossroads.

Re: Please translate birth cft...
Hello Diana,
There is no age mentioned for Maria on Antonio's birth record.
As for the marriage cert. for Giovanni and Maria...it may be that they were only married in the church and not in a civil ceremony (it is the civil records that are posted on Ancestry). Or they may have had a civil ceremony much later than the 1901 date to which you've extended your search.
The Mormons have filmed church records for Villalba from 1845-1913.

Are you familiar with your local Family History Center?
This abstract may give some insight into age at marriage...

Re: Please translate birth cft...
I know he remarried in 1904. I'll look at the Mormon link.
No - I am not familiar with my local family history center but I shall look into that.
I know this doesn't have to do with translations but could there be 2 families, same father, wife names and children's name but in 2 different towns. I keep finding information from Villalba and Valledolmo. I know they are next to each other -
Thanks again.

Sometimes the search can be frustrating...
But keep going, and find as much information/documentation as you can to confirm or eliminate...
