Hi,

I found on the World War I Draft Cards, Rossi (Rosario) Frucci, born October 17, 1873. He was living in Berrien, Michigan. His wife was listed as Anna. The Draft card is hard to read because of the writing.

If you wanted to look at it yourself. This is the microfilm # 1675069. you can rent it at the FHC nearest you. Serial # 2762 and Order #3117.

Rosario (age 56) and his wife, Anna (age46) are in the 1930 Census in Niles, Berrien County, Michigan. They were married about 1901. Rosario was naturalized in 1917.

In the 1930 census with Rosario and Anna are the following children are listed:
Dominic age 27 was married to Teresa, with their children Rossi, Anna, and Mary Jane.
Tony (age 19),
Bruno (age 16),
Veronica (age 11),
John (age 9),
Victor (age 4)

They were living at 1007 Duliria Lane (not sure if that's the correct spelling of Street)

You can always write to the State of Michigan for his death certificate. Do a search on google on how to obtain vital records from Michigan.

Hope this helps.

Good Day

My Grandfather was Francesco Fruci and he had two brothers Rossario and Antonio. All three went to the USA in the early 1900's. I have a photo of the three brothers while they were in the USA. My grandfather Francesco and his brother Antonio went back to Italy in 1915 so that Antonio could marry. Both were then drafted into the Italian army and fought on the Austrian front. Antonio was killed and my grandfather survived. My grandfather died several years ago at the age of 99.

Francesco lived in Filadelfia, Italy. I had the plessure of visiting him while he was still alive. Francesco had five children: Antonio (killed in WWII), Fransceca (married Domenic Caruso), Catherina, Maria (my mother) and Francesco.

My mother is still with us and lives in Niagara Falls Canada and her sister Catherina is still living in Filadelphia.

IF we are related, you have alot of relatives in Canada.

I stumbled upon this forum accidentally but became quite interested in the conversation. My father is from Niles, Michigan and he is a Frucci. His father, Frank, is from Filadelfia. My family as well as many other Fruccis I knew in Niles are no longer in that area although they spent many years there, through the 1960s, 70s and 80s, managing family-owned Italian restaurants. My father died in 2002. His father Frank died in Niles in the 1960s I believe.

I also have a great grandfather named Rosario Frucci who was originally from Filadelfia, Calabria Italy, however he lived his life in Muskegon Michigan. I'm curious about Gioseph's post and have a strong feeling we could be related. Our family lost contact with our relatives in Italy many years ago, and I'd like to re-establish the connections. Looking forward to hearing more...

Hi everyone!! Just found this topic looking for my surname all over the web...
The correct spelling of the surname is FRUCI (just one "c") and it's true that it comes from Filadelfia (once province of Catanzaro, now province of Vibo Valentia). If you had the opportunity to go to Filadelfia you would probably feel like you are in a nightmare or something like that..., as many signs on the shops say "Fruci" (Bars, Butchers, etc.).
What I ask You is, if it's possible, to change your surname in the correct spelling FRUCI, as this is the glorious surname your grandfathers had when they entered the U.S.!!

Bye to all Fruci in the world.

Hey there, its crazy how i came across this site. i was simply looking up filadelfia italy, cause i plan on moving there in a bit to stay at my grandparents house they still own there (while living in canada) and my last name is Fruci, I had no idea it was a popular name there, let alone anywhere, ha.
My great grandparents moved to North Bay Ontario Canada, (Dominico Fruci, and Catarina Fruci) both have 3 children, AnnMarie, Natalino, and Carmen.
(who all live in Ontario)
anyway, I know I have some family there, I just dont know which just yet, but I am eager to go see my heritage routes and hope to get a glimpse of some past families lives.

Hi, just ran across this while looking for some information on my uncle.
See most of these comments were made several years ago.
Just curious if any of you still check this.
My grandparents were Frucci's from Filadelfia and when my grandpa left in the 1900s he left many bro. N sisters and family behind. He also owned property there. I am planning on traveling there with in the next yr. Or so, would love to find relatives and any info regarding my family that I can.
Thank you so much.
