Hey Jamie & T!
Here's a possible 1918 WWI Card
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/5575/1918.jpg
Born 14 Jan 1881
Can't make out the (original?) spelling on his last name
Trying to find naturalization paperwork...

Hey Valarie :-D

1920 and 1930 Census give the year of immigration as 1901 and 1902 respectively...

Naturalization date on 1920 Census is given as 1913...

You folks are amazing - how do you find this stuff so fast?

My grandmother Anna married into the Mianzo family. I believe they came to US in 1905 - based on census records just provided - i did not know that date previously

The settled in Swissvale, PA (Pittsburgh)

There was another Mianzo family - listed in 1920 census from New York - i cant find a direct connection to my kin.

The spelling for DeAugustine (her and her parents) was from her death certificate. Of course i know it could have been provided by someone who never knew the correct spelling - it may explain why i hardly ever see DeAugustine spelled that way

I have the 1920 census - but had not seen the 1910 one - THANX

Also the registration card in new to me - Thanx

that's very impressive - name is different but everything else is on target

My grandfather was married before and had a daughter i recently found out who was named Nancy (or maybe Nunziata in Italian) - my father is listed on the Naturalization petition - Francis with his correct birth date - and i can assume Generoso is my uncle John and his birth is correct

how would you explain the name difference - was it a translation thing when he arrived or could it have been changed? which one do you think may be correct?

amazing info :D :D :D

Hi Frank

1905 Ship Manifest
http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0003

15 Mar 1905, SS Neckar, Naples to NY
Domenico Maenza 24, abt 1881
- married
- last residence S Clemente
- destnation Lewiston PA
- joining uncle Pietro Ciccone
---

If he could not read/write in English when he arrived, he may have chosen his own spelling

You can write to Caserta for Domenico's birth record from San Clemente
It should have the original spelling of his surname

address:

Comune di Caserta
Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Piazza Vanvitelli
81100 Caserta CE
ITALY
