Got an email from the archive of Naples finally. Here is what it says. Should I. Write back with more information as they say?

In relazione alle sue richieste la informiamo che per quanto riguarda i fogli matricolari (congedo illimitato) il nominativo PETILLO Gennaro non è stato trovato negli indici di detti fogli per l'anno 1887.
Quanto ai registri di leva è necessario, per la ricerca, indicare, oltre l'anno di nascita, la sezione del comune di Napoli in cui la persona che interessa è nata. Le sezioni, alla fine del sec. XIX, erano dodici, ma spesso si indicano come nate a Napoli anche persone nate in effetti in località che all'epoca erano comuni auronomi, e solo in seguito furono assorbite dal comune di Napoli, ad esempio Barra, Ponticelli, Secondigliano ecc.
Pertanto non è possibile a questo Istituto dare una risposta alla seconda delle sue richieste.

You need to tell them where exactly in Naples he lived. Did you give them an exact date of birth? If you give them this, you may not have to provide the quartiere but you should make sure it is in the city of Naples.

today I received by email a scan of my great grandfathers birth certificate courtesy of Riccardo Bruno. I started this thread thinking I would never find it . the dates are not what I thought but I will take care of it. If anyone ever seems doubtful, keep up hope!. and I am still waiting to hear back from the other two services I hired. What Bull$*&!. I would never tell someone to hire services specializing in Italian citizenship Only hire an individual researcher.

Congratulations. Glad you found it. Riccardo does a lot of good things here. Of course, he's in Italy and really knows how things work on that end.

yeah he is fantastic. I got to say also carmine is correct. in another post he talks about how finding out my heritage is really rewarding. Dont get me wrong I want that dual citizenship, Im driven towards getting it. In the end though I will certainly be making a full family tree and I am even finding living relatives in italy that I did not know I had. this really is more rewarding than I thought. especially after all the hard work to slowly see results gives one a feeling of true accomplishment.

Your relatives in Italy are still there. Mine were. They don't move away. If you took a trip over, I'm sure they'd be happy to see you.

ricbru-aiuto! I still haven't heard back from the Archivio dello Stato Piacenza & from the Diocesi di Piacenza-Bobbio for my GGF's records. I need some sort of proof that he was born here; military record, atto di battesimo whatever. I have a photocopy of his atto di battesimo already but it doesn't have any firma ufficiale, seal or anything so I wrote to them for this reason.

-What else can I do?
-Should I just go there in person?
-Also as I said above it was in latin. Would they be able to change it themselves?
