Here I am Lord translation

Post by nrepole »

Hi everyone,

I am just looking to get an italian translation of the hymn 'Here I am Lord'. I can't seem to find one, and have tried on the internet with no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not familiar with that hymn, but a quick search for "Sono qui Signore" brought these two You Tube videos. Either of these the hymn you are looking for?

No those arent the right medley. The first one I believe translates to " I am here at your feet Lord" not sure about the second one but its a different medley also. I too run into these problems because Im looking for an Italian catholic prayer book and they are hard to come by

I found this link which has CDs for sale with religious music, but there isn't a list with each CD of the hymns or songs on it.

put the following in a google search

GRUPPO GOSPA MAIKA italiano

The first item that comes up in the search opens as a microsoft word document. It has a lot of hymns in Italian starting on page 59, but I don't see the one you are looking for there.

Maybe he could put the lyrics here in English and someone can translate it into Italian for him. It might not be a literal translation but it can be close enough where he can at least try to sing it in Italian along with the english version.

Hmmm... It's been awhile since I've regularly attended mass, but it seems to me that certain hymns are sung on certain Sundays of the year or something like that. If the hymn is for a certain time and you can find that in the English hymnal, you might be able to get your hands on an Italian hymnal and find it that way? Maybe.

Heres the English:

I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin,
My hand will save.

Chorus
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

I, who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear my light to them?
Whom shall I send?

Chorus
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of snow and rain,
I have borne my people’s pain.
I have wept for love of them.
They turn away.

Chorus
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

I will break their hearts of stone,
Give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak my words to them.
Whom shall I send?

Chorus
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of wind and flame,
I will send the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them.
My hand will save.

Chorus
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

Finest bread I will provide,
'Til their hearts be satisfied.
I will give my life to them.
Whom shall I send?

Chorus
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.
