Re: Translation of birth record, please.
surname of the second witness is Caputo
also the word civile is normally translated as landowner-never have seen it translated as citizen

Re: Translation of birth record, please.
My dictionary defines "civile" as "private citizen, civilian"
And the signature of the second witness definitely has an "i" at the end.

Thank you, Livio!
Giacomo's record seemed very long compared to the others; what is all the "extra" about?

Re: Translation of birth record, please.
Both Giacomo's and Maria Vittora's records are 26 lines long. They are both a little longer than usual because normally it is the father that makes the declaration and presentation of the baby. In these two record the declaration was made by a different person and there is a sentence where this person states that the father was out of town...

Re: Translation of birth record, please.
Livio has already given you the information, but basically it says that, at the request of the official, the midwife, who made the declaration and presentation, explained that she did so because the father of the baby above was absent from the town.
Such declaration was made in the presence of the witnesses (Livio has already given you all the information about them).
It also says that the town official gave a reading of the present act to all who intervened. Only he signed the document. The others were illiterate.
