Testa family from Roccasecca, Frosinone, Lazio, Italy!

Post by arossetti15 »

I am looking for any relatives of the Testa family. My great grandmother was Maria Antonia Testa. She was born 1/1/1890 in Roccasecca to Emideo Testa and Apollonia Torriero. She had at least one brother named Andrea Testa. She married Eduardo Martino in 1910 and immigrated to Utica, New York. She had several children and died in 1961.
If you know anymore more info or if you think you could be related reply or email me at arossetti15@yahoo.com

Hello and welcome to the forum-

In order to try to connect with relatives, it is a good idea to gather as much information as you can about the family. Do you have any records for your family such as passenger lists, census records, etc?

Let us know what you have or don't have so that we don't duplicate efforts.

Thanks
Peg

Any information that I know I have already listed. I got it all from an obituary.

Does the Family Tree for Maria Antonia Testa (1890-1961) and Edoardo Martino (1888-1937) on Ancestry.com belong to you?

It also lists son Marco...(1916-1954)

Source fultonhistory.com

Edward Martino born Castocielo Italy, died 11 Nov 1938, burial Calvary Cemetery. Obit old print and hard to read. Listed 3 daughters and 4 sons.

Andrea Testa (brother of Maria) died May 1939 , age 64, in Port Chester NY, burial in Calvary Cemetery

I could just make out the names Mary, Mario and Mrs Jack Salerno for children of Edward and Maria.

You may wish to write directly to the comuni (towns) for the birth/marriage record of Maria Testa and Edoardo Martino.

You should use the following addresses:

Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Via Roma, 5
3038 Roccasecca (FR)
ITALY

Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Via Vittorio Veneto, 5
03030 Castrocielo (FR)

Just for reference, no value add...

Believe the brother in law was Antonio Ricci, a photographer at that address.

Found another date...

Adelaide was the daughter of Maria and Edward.

Jack Salerno and Adelaide Martino were married June 30, 1934. They had 2 sons, Dominick (of Rochester, NY) and Edward (of Fayetteville, NY).

______________
Tessa, thanks.

Roccasecca is terrible at responding to requests, and I know from experience that marriage records from 1910 do not contain the names of the parents for some strange reason. They lost a lot of birth records during WW2 so may not have what you are looking for. Parish records did survive.

Thank you all for your help! If my great-grandfather Eduardo Martino was going to see a brother-in-law named Antonio Ricci, would that mean he had a sister? If so how would I be able to find her name?

Also if this helps, my grand father was Marco John Martino and I believe he died around 1954 in Utica, N.Y. He was born in March of 1916 in Utica to Eduardo and Maria Testa Martino. My family members say they don't know a lot about him except that he was murdered. How would I be able to find this out?

Sometime after immigrating Eduardo and Maria changed their names to Edward and Mary.
