Gennar Russo ?

Need info regarding Gennaro Russo. Hopefully a census report will clear up a controversy regading his name. One research says his name is Giocondo. His parents were Tomasso Russo and Lucia Filomena Cunti. His brother was my grandfather Antonio Angelo Russo. Gennaro? lived on Taylor Street in New Castle, Pa. He died on December 26, 1945. There is also some question about his siblings. He supposedly had a sister named Archangeli that married and moved to Rochester, Pa. I have no further info regarding her, other than what my late Aunt told me. I have not been able to uncover any info from New Castle database regarding is marriage or death. Perhaps an census report might help. I am 79 years old and have been trying to finalize my research. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for this wonderful website.

I guess that supports the fact that Gennaro was not the name of my grandfather's brother. My grandfather's father's name was Tomasso not Antonio. Thank you for your response. Now I wonder if his brothers name was Andrea? I'll have to see what I can find out. Perhaps Gennaro was a cousin of my grandfather. He came from Baia e Latina also.

Hi Marcello, in effects, after a search, it is the only Gennaro/George Russo died in New Castle, Lawrence, PA in the 26 dec 1945..
I found that Gennaro, italian first name, emigrated the first time in 1893, but I no found this trip; instead I found the second trip, and he was naturalized and coming from Baia Latina, joining at wife Clotilde Strizzi in New Castle:

This is the only Gennaro/George living in New Castle; by WWII draft registration card, the birthdate is a bit different:

Thank You for the information. I am familiar with that lineage in the Russo Tree. It is a distant relative of my grandfather. My Grandfather had a brother that lived across the street from him on Taylor Street in New Castle, Pa. One researcher gave me the name Giocondo as his brother. I am not familiar with that name. It doesnt seem to fit with the information that I have.
His name may have been Andrea (Andrew) Russo/Ross. And I was told he had a sister named Archangeli. With the information you provided me, I am sure that Gennaro was not his brother.

just a perplexity: you said that Gennaro or Giocondo or Andrea died on December 26, 1945... seeming that the only Russo died in New Castle in this date was abt the Gennaro/George ... but you are sure that is not your Angelo Antonio's brother... the problem is that you have no infos, just the surname; no birthyear.... no immigration year... no wife name as a well children names... just a address in New Castle but we know not in what certain period of time...

I know Andrea?/Giocondo? had a son Thomas Ross who was a shoemaker. I can provide the names of Tomasso's parents if necessary. I am hoping that the census will shed some light on his brother's name. His brother lived on Taylor Street in New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. The death date of 26 Dec 1945 is that date I have for Gennaro. Since I dont know what my grandfathers brothers name is I also dont know when he died.

YES!!!! This is the family and it confirms the name of his brother. ther was some question among my family as to whether his name was Andrea or Gennaro. You have solved the mystery for me. I am familiar with all of the children and grandchildren of Andrew. I Thank You So Much for all your work. It helps to prove that the research information that I received is not correct. The earliest known ancestor of My grandfather was Andrea Russo (abt. 1800) who married Teresa DeSimone (abt. 1800). Their only know child was Tomasso Russo (abt 1843) who married Lucia Filomena Cunti. They all lived in Baia e Latina.

Thanks Again. I noticed that in all the census reports the surname recorded was Ross, however, the in the death record the surname is Russo. According to NCN his death date was 6/28/1937. Thank you for opening up another avenue to pursue in search of my ancestry. I will continue to try to find out more about Andrew's grandfather Andrea Russo in Baia e Latina. The search becomes confusing because of the repitition of the same names in each generation. Thank you for all that you have done for me.
