Hello, I'd appreciate any help in locating records of my lost family in Italy.

My great-grandfather emigrated to Brazil via Santos port in the late 1800s.
My grandmother was born in Brazil and her name was EDITH VITAL DE OLIVEIRA but she always told my mother that her name was recorded wrong and it should have been VITALE OR VITALLI OR VITALI. All I know about my g-gand father is that he was from CALABRIA and he owned a pasta factory in Sao Joao del Rey, Minas Gerais, Brazil. My grandmother was born in 1910.

MARRIED TO MARIA JOSE DO ESPIRITO - BRAZILIAN
HE DIED AND IS BURIED IN SAO JOAO DEL REY, MG

I would like to find out which city he came from, and his relatives at the time.

Correction - my GGF owned a Pasta factory in MINAS GERAIS, CITY NAMED SAO JOAO DEL REY. My Grandmother was born in this city.

Vitale is a very common name, you should request the long form of birth record of your grandmother in order to know the complete name of her father. That is a starting point to go over

His name was Gaetano Vitalli.and looks like his last name has been changed when he arrived..thanks for the tip. My grandmother passed many years ago and we no longer have this information.
