pretura copies transferr from Caltanissetta to Enna?

Post by timo »

Were the pretura copies of the archives from towns in the province of Caltanissetta later handed over to Enna? Or did Caltanissetta retain them?

Thank you, Marcello. Do you happen to know if Enna now has the pretura archives of the towns that do not appear on that list (i.e. towns formerly part of the province of Caltanissetta)?

In the State Archive of Enna there are only the pretura archives of the towns of the province of Enna. What pretura are you looking for?

Here's the short answer:

I am trying to determine the present-day location of the pretura copies of the civil archives for Pietraperzia.

Here's the long answer:

When I look up Pietraperzia on the internet, the results show that it is nowadays in the province of Enna:

http://www.comuni-italiani.it/086/015/

But wasn't Pietraperzia formerly in the province of Caltanissetta? Please see attached picture of the Indice Decennale 1906-1915 (Nati): comune di Pietraperzia, circondario di Piazza Armerina, provinicia di Caltanissetta.

I took that picture, by the way, with my cell phone when I was visiting the local family history center of the FHL. The local center lacks a way to produce photocopies of "pages" from these microfilms. On the machine that can produce photcopies, the microfilms are illegibly tiny because it lacks the appropriate lens.

So my next stop is ancestry.com | ancestry.it, but the civil records for Pietraperzia are not available on the Ancestry website(s). When you search their Catalog using "CALTANISSETTA" as the keyword, the results page shows the Civil Records for Caltanissetta, and when you click that link, you are brought to another page where you can choose a locality. But Pietraperzia is not listed there as a locality beneath Caltanissetta. Nothing comes up for Enna either.

I was unable to contact ancestry.it to ask them about this because their contact-us form on the website was broken. I reported the broken-form problem to Ancestry USA. Technical support at Ancestry.com USA gave me a nearly useless answer: "some microfilms may be available, some may not be available". I have also written to their "content" department and we will see if they reply with a definitive reason why they lack these particular archives.

Regards
T

- Stato civile of Pietraperzia (births, marriages and deaths) from 1820 to 1865

In the site of the SIUSA http://www.archivi.beniculturali.it/ASEN/pagina.html
you can see that in the State Archive of Enna there are also the acts of stato civile (births, marriages an deaths) from 1866 to 1960, but these acts aren't still inventiried. There are also 297 microfilms from 1820 to 1910

Thank you both very much. I have googled Stato Civile many times, but neither of these websites came to my attention.
