Looking for birth year of Francesco Longobardi in Positano

Hello all,

I have several conflicting Ellis island records giving age and date combinations that would lead to birth years of anywhere from 1942 to 1948.

I emailed the Comune di Positano with the 1948 birth year (which I thought was right) and they have no record. They responded to me in about a week, so if I email again with the correct birth year, I think they will be helpful.

Here is who I am looking for:

S. Francesco Longobardi or Francesco S. Longo bardi (He interchanged his middle and first name, we're not sure which was which at birth)
Born (likely, or near to) Positano in 1942 to 1947

Naturalized US citizen in 1893, although he still traveled back and forth. Sometimes on commercial ships as a passenger, often as a captain himself.

Lived in Jackson, MI, then in Ann Arbor, MI, where he died.

He was a merchant ship captain and sailed between Italy and the US several times. His descendants now own the Bucca di Baco in Positano.

One presumes all those 19xx dates in your post were meant to be 18xx, correct?

Have you obtained his naturalization documents? Even in 1893, I would expect that his age and/or birthdate would be shown there.

Shoot, yes, all dates are meant to be 18xx
Birth would be between 1842 to 1847

I did obtain his nat. record, and it does not have his birth year on it.

Then give Positano all the possible years and comment that his descendants now own the Buca di Baco. It will help them pin down the family.
