Post by sceaminmonkey »

I am curious about healthcare in italy. I wonder if anyone has past experience or websites I can check out.

Well, I guess it depends where you live. I wouldn't rate it number 2 on any list. It seems like every week there is a protest about poor care especially in the south. Just last week a cousin's 80+ mother broke her hip. Well, the bone came away from the previous hip replacement done 15 years ago. She was taken by ambulance to the local hospital where her son was told to take her back to who did it. Then he was was told to find her a bed somewhere else and have her transferred there. The situation was resolved but not easily and not by the medical staff on hand.

It depends on your income. If you have none, they are covered. Otherwise you pay a %.
