Surnames-Amici,Bosoni,Giachina

Post by bella4 »

Ciao!
Here's an update on what I've been able to find. Unfortunately, I seem to be at a standstill.
I got copies of Antonio Amici and Frances Bosoni's Death Certificates. Here's their information:
Antonio Amici -born 9/15/1875 died-9/18/1966
Mother-Theresa (no last name)
Father- Gaetano Amici
Frances Bosoni-born 6/15/1885 died-3/19/1956
Mother-Theresa Giachina
Father- Luigi Bosoni
I cannot find any information on the surnames Bosoni and Giachina, I have tried several websites to find these surnames. Nothing comes up at Familysearch either. How do I find out more information on these family members when Antonio and Frances were the only ones who came over here? My mother has no papers etc. to refer to for more info. I would be grateful for any help.
thanks,
bella

Dear Bella,

Sorry, but it seems we missed your post. I hope some of this information helps.

I did find your ancestors in the 1930 Federal Census in Rome, New York.

It states the following

Antonio, born abt 1875
Frances, born abt 1885
Josephine, born abt 1914
Eleanor, born abt 1916
Lena, born abt 1920
Theresa, born abt 1921
Thomas, born abt 1925
Rosie, born abt 1926

All the children were born in the New York. Antonio and Frances were married around 1913

However, in the 1920 Census, they are living in Mohawk, New York which in Montgomery County.

You can try for their marriage record in Mohawk. You would want the Marriage Application for it might state where in Italy they were from. A Marriage Application costs a little more, but sometimes you can find tons of information on it.

The other is that since Antonio died in 1966, he has a Social Security Number. You can write for his Social Security Application. It usually costs about $27 and it too can list the town he was from.

I hope this helps.

Hello,
This post is so old, I am hoping that the family members see it.
In regards to the above, Josephine Amici was my great grandmother, which I had the pleasure of knowing into adulthood. I do have some information, but I ran dry at the same relatives. I know that Frances' parents were Theresa Giachina, and Luigi Bosoni. I have seen Luigi Bosoni on passenger lists, with the name of a wife he left behind, but I never heard about this, so I am not sure it's the same Luigi. Are there any updates since this last post? I also found a death certificate and a marriage certificate for Luigi Bosoni, but It's very light and blurry, and in Italian. I also know that my GG Grandmother Josephine was born in Fonda, NY.
