Naturalization Papers for Frank Rey

Post by DJP1812 »

Hi All,

I need to confirm some information about my great grandparents. I was hoping someone form this forum can locate any online images of my GGF Naturalization petition. The most important thing I need is my GGF maiden name. I can not find immigration papers on GGF or GGM. Any help is, as always, much appreciated! Thanks!!!

Info I have from census docs (1920, 1930):

Born around 1880
Came to USA from Italy in: 1912 - 1913

Found a Petition # from database: 37209 . Petition was from 1925
Wife: Angelica Rey
Born around 1895
Came to USA from Italy in: 1906
Kids: Simone Frank Rey, Alfred, Yolanda and Ida (Veronica)

Angelica's maiden name should be on her marriage record, her children's birth records, and on her husband and children's Social Security Applications... if they had a SS# :-)

Just other options for searching :-)

I was going to say, I strongly suspect that "Rey" is not the original surname...

I considered "Rea" but was surprised to see that "Re" is actually quite common: http://www.paginebianche.it/execute.cgi ... &om=0&l=en

Seriously amazing how after weeks of searching, this forum doubles the possibilities in minutes! Thanks!

Carmine: Thanks for the images!!! There was a family rumor that Frank changed the name to Rey to seem less 'French'. That it was possibly Re'. Rea is new to me! But heck, that could be why I am having no luck!
Tessa: That could be them! How does one search Social Security Application documents? Any databases online? The Marriage Index you got that data from, does it have any ID numbers associated? Maybe with that I can apply online to get there Marriage certificate from NYC Archives!

Thank you so much! Again!

Hi D!

The above marriage index includes the marriage certificate number and borough. Use those to order from this site...

Re Francesco Nov 27 1917 Manhattan 3836
Rea Angelica Nov 27'16 1917 3836 Manhattan

To request a Social Security Application... (you can do your own search, or have them do it for you - for an additional fee)

http://genealogy.about.com/gi/o.htm?zi= ... t/main.jsp

To search SSDI yourself... (only to find the SS#)

Well, I am not so certain about the manifest. For one thing, this particular Francesco seems to have left behind a wife Maria in Italy...

But, heck, that (man leaving wife behind and starting life anew in the US)seems to have happened more than once.

Wow!

Tessa:
Ordered the Marriage certificate! Hopefully it has their parents and I can go back even further!!! Thanks!
Thanks for the WW1 Card! Amazing, so much so quick! I have a DOB!
As soon as I can I will order the SSN applications! Thanks

Carmine:
It's all making sense now... On the 1930 census his year of first marriage does not match up with his wife's (Angelica). Could be another lady!

I can't find that manifest on ellisisland.org.

Where do you (masters of all research) have subscriptionstoo? I just got FTM and I was going to try out Ancestry.com for a while. But it is kind of pricey.
