Canopic manifest for May 16, 1911

Post by mkronenw »

How can I get a correct ship's passenger list for the Canopic that arrived in Boston, May 16, 1911? Ancestry has another ship's manifest showing for that date. I think my grandfather was on the ship.

I had a similar problem once. Scrolling through the "Canopic" manifest, I see that most of the pages after the first 10 or so are actually for the SS Franconia.

So, I went back and pulled up the May, 1911 SS Franconia manifest and saw immediately that it starts out with 39 pages of SS Zeeland. Then, on page 40 - voila! - the real SS Canopic manifest begins.

And here it is...

Thanks.
That was very ingenious! Yes, I found the right page but, unfortunately, the second page was missing. I assume there is no way to recover that info?
