YOWZA!!!! - SUCCESS in San Francisco

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

YOWZA!!!! - SUCCESS in San Francisco

Post by Steverino3006 »

8O :!: :D

My case was quite simple, via my paternal grandfather. No inconsistencies with names, etc. Easily got needed docs from Italy via mia cugina.

timeline:

4/3/2009: e-mail seeking appointment
4/9/2009: reply noting backlog, and asking for basic info re my chain
4/10/2009: send info
4/16/2009: receive e-mail setting appointment
12/8/2010: appointment
12/29/2010: date of letter and document recognizing my citizenship
1/14/2011: receive letter (postmark smudged, but looks like January 2011.

At my appointment, which went very well, I was told it might take 6 to 18 months for recognition. Now, remember, my case was very simple, but still this looks very promising for others.

:D Congratulations!!! What a great accomplishment!!!

My appt. in San Fransisco is April 5, 2011 and I have everything together.
I have been waiting 2 years for this appt and I am so excited!!!
Did you have a walk in or mail in Appt?
I have a mail in appt. because I live 5 hours north of S.F.
I noticed you said you have already received a letter after your appt.
Was this letter from the S.F. consulate or from Italy?
What did the letter say?
My mother and brother had their appt. in Los Angelos on Nov. 12 2010 and they still have not received anything in the mail re: their appt. The L.A. consulate said it would take 9 months to have their citizenship recognized.
Thats why I am so glad to hear you have already received a letter.
Thanks so much for your time and help!

5 hours north - Humboldt County?

I had a walk in appointment.

The letter was from the Consulate, and it said it was going to be registered in my commune.

It gives my facts, and says U.S. citizen, is an Italian citizen by decendance. the ddecision is by the Consulate, and the commune is informed.

Yes, Humboldt county :D
Thanks so much for the information!!
I was hoping my mom and brother would get a similar letter (like yours) from the LA consulate that I could send in with my paperwork to SF.
Congratulations again!!!!

Wow! That's fast. I applied with all documents in place much earlier in 2010, and I'm still waiting. Was your appointment in Dec. 2010, or 2009? If 2010 (as you write), that's an incredibly fast response time - literally just over one month! Congratulations!

M. Allessio Cei conducted my appointment. He is new, but very good. My appointment was in December 2010. All of my paperwork was in order, and was very straightforward.

I obtained my passport yesterday!!!
