Hi Valarie it could be... on Elizabeth Donaldson death record ( IF IS THE RIGHT ELIZABETH) the mother name was Sarah Cortez, and if right and 1910 census that you found is right also, it is possible that Serafina died and Giuseppe/Joseph married at Sarah? It is possible...

I found this probable arrival abt Giuseppe Ferrarelli single, coming from San Giovanni in Fiore ( Cosenza, Calabria IT) arrived in 1898

http://www.ellisisland.org/search/shipm ... 2528080075

and by Cosenza State Archive the italian military record:
Giuseppe Ferrarelli, contadino iscritto il 09/07/1895

nato il 14/04/1875 a SAN GIOVANNI IN FIORE
da Francesco Saverio Ferrarelli e da Isabella Mazzei

so the father was Francesco Saverio Ferrarelli and the mother Isabella Mazzei; this Joseph was born in San Giovanni in Fiore on 14 apr 1875 the first son of Joe Frail/ Giuseppe Ferrarelli was Frank aka Francesco as Giuseppe father...

by WWI draft registration card:

World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
about Joseph Ferilla
Name: Joseph Ferilla
County: Marion
State: West Virginia
Birth Date: 15 Apr 1875

Race: White
FHL Roll Number: 1992624
DraftBoard: 2

http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/2274 ... lliwwi.jpg
next of kin: Mrs S... Ferilla in San Giovanni in Fiore...

I believe that this previous records are abt the Giuseppe Ferrarelli found by Valarie:
Home in 1910:
Fairmont, Marion, West Virginia

Giusseppe Ferrarelli 34, abt 1876 IT
Serafina Ferrarelli 28 , abt 1882 IT
Frank Ferrarelli 6, abt 1904 NY
Lizzie Ferrarelli 5, abt 1905 NY
Mary Ferrarelli 1, abt 1909 WV

for some reason the wife came back in Italy.. and he joined at Sarah and had other children.. only a suggestion but I am positive that is the right person...

If I was a betting man, I would bet that you are correct. By looking at the names of the oldest children the dates add up. So, now the goal is to trace the line back one generation at a time correct? Though the goal here is to find the birth city if I'm following you all properly. I really hope that one day I will somehow be able to repay the favor to all of you. thank-you so very much!!!

:D I agree suanj, you've found the correct Giuseppe Ferrarelli (Frail)!
Terrific record finds from Cosenza
Could wife Sarah be 'americanized' Serafina?
1st son Frank/Francesco, 1st daughter Lizzie/Elizabeth/Isabella?
I think your Elizabeth Donaldson is Lizzie from 1910 census, born in NY
Big Hug!

the birth town of Giuseppe Ferrarelli:
- aka Joseph Ferilla in WWI draft registration card
- aka Joe Frail in 1930 census ((and maybe no sure to 100% but I believe to 95% )
is: San Giovanni in Fiore( Cosenza, Calabria IT)

Hi Valarie, if you read the Joseph Ferilla WWI draft registration card, the next of kin is Mrs S... Ferilla in San Giovanni in Fiore.... it could be Mrs Serafina Ferilla( Ferrarelli)... I believe that Serafina abandoned Joseph and came back in Italy.. and he joined at Sarah Cortez... on the Elizabeth Donaldson death, the parents are Joseph Farrell and Sarah Cortez...

here the death of Sarah Farrell
Sarah Farrell daughter of Samuel Cortez and Josephine
died in 1959 at age 77
http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_view.as ... Type=Death

so from original Ferrarelli surname, becoming Ferilla, Frail, Farrell....

Hi suanj :D
I agree Serafina was in Italy in 1918
Could she have made a trip home and come back to WV?
Birth records for Giuseppe Ferrarelli's children would really help :? !

Question for Rocky
Did some of the sons take the name Farrell and some Frail?
Informant on suanj's 1959 death certificate find was Vito Farrell
Thank you, Valarie

I apologize for not properly responding earlier. I was on my smart phone responding to everything previous.

Now that I have had time to collect all of the data and put it all in a spreadsheet, I want to express my sincere gratitude for all of your support and efforts in my search.

I hate to ask any more of any of you, but I have one final question. How do I comprise all of this information into exactly what the Embassy needs for my citizenship? If any of you can help me, I will gladly pay you for your time. I would gladly pay you for your time thus far. I don't know any other way to thank you properly.

Sincerely yours,

Wayne Nathaniel Ferrarelli-Donaldson-Sampson aka Rocky
