Loocking for my Granfather LOPEZ CRISTOFORO or CRISTOFERO

Post by upablo »

Hi everybody, I'am trying to find out the tracks of my granfather who emigrated to USA, Boston coming from Italy, Borbona LAZIO.
I didn't find any record on Ellis Island database, and I guess he used to pass the US border from Canada. He has lived for many years in QUINCY, between the first and the second WW. I know that he was a worker for the BOSTON railways and he'd got a regular pension from US government.
My grandfather died in 1952, and I have never known him. His year of birh should be 1890. I know that he traveled several times from Italy to US.
I would like to find out whatever information about his life in the US.

Any help would be greatly appeciated
regards
Paolo

Thanks for the information, maybe this was the first time he arrived in USA.

Can you suggest me where I can collect other infos. I know that he worked in boston, building the rail and that he lived in QUINCY.
Records about the company he was working for, or the exact address where he lived, for example

thanks in advance

It's strange, because I think he was a regular immigrant, I know that when he retired he got an US pension because he stayed in USA more than 15 years . So I think there must be records somewhere about his job .

Thanks

I suspect that he changed his name and and set up a new family in USA, he was a big and strong man about 2 meter tall and was called CRISTOFENONE (big cristofer) by his companions, the mistake in his first name maybe came from his surname.

Any idea on where to search?
thanks

Marty cannot be Giuseppina Tocchio wife of Cristoforo Lopez, because this Giuseppina Tocchi coming from Monteleone di Spoleto ( Perugia province) mispelled in Montebono( not exist; it exist Montebuono in Rieti province):
pag 1 http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0011
pag 2 http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0011

I believe that Giuseppina never came in USA; Cristoforo abandoned the wife and changed the name in USA...
maybe he no wishing more contact with italian family...
I searched so much and I cannot find it in all databases...
just the arrivals... Paolo said that Cristoforo made some other trip back in Italy, but really no evidence abt that...
I cannot find more abt this person.... strange...
