Granelli from California

Post by aiescavol »

Good morning!
I'm looking for Jack Granelli, born 28 march 1911.
I know that was born in Italy but I don't know where.
His father Giovanni was born in New York in 1885. How I can see where was born in Italy?

Jack Granelli death in Sonoma, CA, dec. 1980

Thanks!

If his death certificate does not name his place of birth, you can use this info to order a copy of his application for a Social Security card. That should have the info you are looking for.

Also, this ship's list seems to be your Giovanni & family:

New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957
about Giovanni Granelli
Name: Giovanni Granelli
Arrival Date: 7 Mar 1912
Birth Year: abt 1886
Birth Location: New York
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Ethnicity/Race/Nationality: Italian (South) (Italian)
Port of Departure: Genoa, Italy
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: Duca D Aosta

Giovanni is traveling with:

Clemantina Moreschi abt 1883 29 Female
Giulio Granelli abt 1910 2 Female
Giacomo Granelli abt 1911 11 Months Male

The manifest at Ancestry is difficult to read, but the place of birth given looks to me like Parma Car.... Maybe someone here can decipher it for you.

Let me see if I remember how to do this: should be both pages of the manifest; your family is lines 20 - 23.
