NJ Birth and Marriage Records

Post by Sierra172 »

Hi there!

I am wondering if anyone knows how I can obtain a NJ Birth Certificate and a Marriage Certificate for my ancestors? I will have to ask them for a search as all I have is a name and birthdate. Also, I am not sure of the exact Marriage date.

Thanks!!!

Hello and Welcome.

Being originally from NJ I can tell you that the best way is o go directly to the town hall vital records of thetown they were born in. You will most likely (actually Definitely) need ID to prove you are related. having thier social Security # as well always helps.

For the marriage record, go directly to the church. I would actually call the church first and advise what you need. By the time you get there they will have it ready for you. (hint on this) Most times they will retype the certificate on there new formated style of certificate. f you ask, I am sure alng with the new style they will "photocopy" th original as well. Besides that, you can then take pictures to add to your research.

Hi - I've used this woman who does research in NJ. Her name is Ann Boldt. She charges $5 per record if she finds it. Quick service too. Here's her email address with her permission.
