Adam,

The city of Avellino is the capital city of the province of the same name.

City of Avellino: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avellino

Province of Avellino: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Province_of_Avellino

Pease do not forget that it appears from manifests posted in your other threads that your ancestors were not from the city of Avellino, but from the smaller comune (village, town) of Marzano di Nola which is about 20km east of Avellino city (but inside of Avellino province).

According to the Italian telephone directory, there are 24 listings for Corbisiero in the very small comune of Marzano di Nola (population 1,700) http://www.paginebianche.it/execute.cgi ... btt=1&om=0

compared to only 3 in the much larger city of Avellino (population 57,000) http://www.paginebianche.it/execute.cgi ... btt=1&om=0.

Draw your own conclusions. :D
