Death Certificate-Rome

Post by silvana/australia »

Dear Forum,

Can I please request information on how to obtain a death certificate for my grandfather Addolorato Petrecca who was born 10th August 1909 in Castelpetroso. He died in Rome, apparently he was travelling to work by bus complained of a headache and was taken to a hospital in Rome where he died. This was approximately on the 6th January 1940.

I have written to:

Ufficio Anagrafe
Piazza Olmo
86090 Castelpetroso (IS)
Italy

and

Ministerio per I Beni e le Attivita’ Culturali
Archivo di Stati di Isernia
Corso Risorgimento I-86170 ISERNIA

Both have been extremely helpful and have supplied me with many documents but unfortunately they could not provide a death certificate.

Because Addolorato died in Rome could there be records kept there, anywhere, hopefully.

Thank you

Kind regards

Silvana

If he died in Roma, his death certificate will be filed in Roma.

The problem is, Roma is divided into 20 municipi, each of which has its own Anagrafe and Stato Civile; I am not certain there is a single address you can write to which will have access to the records of all 20 of the individual offices.

The 20 municipi are shown here: http://www.comune.roma.it/wps/portal/pc ... unicipi.wp. Click any one, then look for a Stato Civile link (each municipio site is a little different, so I cannot give better instructions).

There are several members here who can probably offer better suggestions: suanj, liviomoreno, ricbru, and lucap come to mind.

There MAY be a notation of his death on his birth record in Castelpetroso...

Address:
Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Via San Rocco
86090 Castelpetroso (IS)
ITALY

Email for the City Hall:
urp@comune.castepetroso.is.it

Worth a try! :-D

Try Castelpetroso first, then if no luck
Comune di Roma
VIA PETROSELLI 50

Enclose an addressed envelope and some photo ID and explain your relationship.
