OK, now I believe I have found Rocco Lauria's death record. I have translated enough to know it's from 1919 and I believe he is 77 yrs old. Not sure if the other info will match up but that puts him at the age of the Rocco we are researching for egrbvr. Please translate the rest of the record.

I believe this to be the Marriage Bann (Announcement) of Rocco Luigi Lauria and Domenica Maria Ciani from 1866. It will need translating...still searching for death reords. Keeping fingers crossed!

Dated 27 September 1866 at 8 AM at the town hall in Anzi.

For
Rocco Luigi Antonio Lauria, groom, single, 24, son of couple Salvatore (Lauria) and deceased Maria Benedetto, keepers of cows (?);
and
Domenica Maria Ciani, bride, single, 20, daughter of couple Francesco (Ciani) and Rosa Bonomo, both peasant farmers.

Looks lik the banns were posted first on Sunday, the 16th of September; and second on 23 of September; and there has been no opposition to the upcoming marriage.

Rocco Luigi Lauria came to New York, USA, from Italy leaving his wife and children at home. He opened a Fruit and Grocery store in New York CIty and made several trips home to Italy to visit his family during the years 1876-1886.
Maybe he came back again

Great point, Marty! Let's see what original poster thinks about that one. She might already know if he came and stayed eventually.

BTW, my own great-grandfather came here in 1903, 1906 and 1909 before staying for good after his third trip. I have no idea how long he stayed each time he came to the US, but his wife and three Italy born children didn't come here until 1912.I thought this was odd, but maybe not so much

I hadn't been back here for some time... thinking that it would be MOST difficult to trace any heritage with so little information. THEN, here I am today and see that you TWO have done so much of it for me.... how do I thank you? I am REenergized now to continue. I am 76 (in very good health!) but only 1 cousin and my brother are still around and NONE of us had ever been told much of anything... I just want to know as much as possible and to pass this along to honor my proud Italian heritage. THANK YOU, Tess and Tricia.
