I was wondering if any one is aware of the surname Comis from the Vodo Cadore area of Italy?

Hello and welcome!

You might try the Italian Phone Book

http://www.paginebianche.it/index.html

Type the surname "Comis" in the chi/cosa space
Type "Vodo Cadore" in the dove space

The surname COMIS is common in the Province of Belluno.
