Re: Trying to locate where my grandparents were married
Hello and welcome!
Are we speaking of Campobello di Licata (Agrigento) or Campobello di Mazara (Trapani)?
Both are in Sicily but in different provinces

Re: Trying to locate where my grandparents were married
OK
How sure are you of your grandmother's date of birth?
Do you know the names of her parents?
Do you think they were married in Italy?

Re: Trying to locate where my grandparents were married
I have no living relatives except my brothers and sister and since my beloved Mother passed away 2 years ago I have began a quest to find information of my Mothers family.
I have done quite a bit of leg work going to the library, sending for death certificates, birth certificates, church records etc. But all these records do not have what town my grandparents were born in or married in.From these records if accurate my grandmother was born in 1893 parents Ida, father Joseph ,brother Joseph census record shows they settled in Windber Penn then moved to Buffalo NY in 1930 .
My grandmothers death notice also says she belonged to the Societa Campobello di Licata.
My grandfather was born 1880 Mother Grace ,Father Croce, brother Croce his death notice says he was from Campobello also but one of my older brothers thinks they were married there and he was born somewhere else in Italy. Thank You

Re: Trying to locate where my grandparents were married
Italians usually married in the parish of the bride. Request the certificate or see if the LDS have microfilmed those years.

Re: Trying to locate where my grandparents were married
From the site Ellisisland.org the possible 1913 arrival manifest for Giuseppa/Josephine D'Agostino:
21 october 1913:
D'Agostino Giuseppa, female, age 19, single, place of birth and last residence in Italy Campobello di Licata, leaving in Italy her mother Locurto Agata, joining her brother D'Agostino Giuseppe in Windber PA
page 1:
http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0002
page 2:
http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0002
if this arrival manifest is correct for your Josephine then this is a possible birth act from the site Ancestry.com:
Birth act number 72 - Year 1894
D'Agostino Giuseppa was born in Campobello di Licata on the day 27 february 1894, daughter of Giuseppe D'Agostino, age 43 and of a woman who didn't want to be named (not married neither relative with the declarant)
link to the original image on the site Ancestry.com:
http://search.ancestry.com/Browse/view. ... gskw=&cr=1
No marriage annotation on this birth act, possibly Giuseppa and Angelo married in Windber?
considering that on the 1920 census Angelo stated that he arrived in the U.S, on 1908 then this may have been his arrival manifest:
22 july 1907
Barone Angelo, age 26, male, single, place of birth and last residence in Italy Campobello di Licata, leaving in Campobello his mother Grazia Magro; joining
his cousin Giuseppe La Greca in Philadelphia
page 1:
http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0006
page 2:
http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0006
from the WW1 Draft registration card the correct birth date for Angelo:
World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
about Angelo Barone
Name: Angelo Barone
County: Somerset
State: Pennsylvania
Birth Date: 26 Jan 1880
Race: White
FHL Roll Number: 1926736
DraftBoard: 2
I checked the births in Campobello for the year 1880 but wasn't able to find him... maybe place of birth was different...

other possible clues for your research:wabash wrote:From these records if accurate my grandmother was born in 1893 parents Ida, father Joseph ,brother Joseph census record shows they settled in Windber Penn then moved to Buffalo NY in 1930 .
about Josephine's brother Giuseppe/Joseph I found a possible WW1 Draft registration card :
World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
Name: Joseph Dagostino
County: Somerset
State: Pennsylvania
Birth Date: 26 Aug 1878
Race: White
FHL Roll Number: 1926736
DraftBoard: 2
Nearest relative: Carmela Lauria d'Agostino (wife)

this is the birth act for this person, from Ancestry.com:
Birth Act number 280 - Year 1878
D'Agostino Giuseppe was born in Campobello di Licata on the day 26 august 1878, son of Giuseppe D'Agostino, age 23 and of a woman living with him but not married who didn't want to be named.
important annotation on the left side of the act:
"Con atto Giuseppe Fontana è stato dichiarato figlio naturale di Agata Lo Curto.
1/10/98"
So, with an official act Giuseppe D'Agostino (born on 1878) on 1898 was declared as natural son of Agata Lo Curto. Agata Lo Curto was the mother of Giuseppa/Josephine D'Agostino (named on the 1913 arrival manifest)... no doubt they were brother and sister.

If these records are correct for your ancestors, then they married in the U.S., most likely in Windber (being the place where Giuseppa stated she was going at the time of her arrival in the U.S.)...

Re: Trying to locate where my grandparents were married
I think that Giuseppa/Josephine's father died when she was a little child...
this may have been his deat act:
Death Act number 80 - Year 1895
D'Agostino Giuseppe died in Campobello di Licata on the day 3 may 1895 at the house at the address "Corso Vittorio Emanuele". He was 44 years old, occupation "zolfataro" (sulphur miner, same occupation on Josephine's 1894 birth act). He was born in "Palco" , resident in Campobello, son of the late D'Agostino Giuseppe occupation carts driver and of the late Giuseppa Terrasi farmer. He was single.

Re: Trying to locate where my grandparents were married
I want to thank everyone for the information I have obtained on this wonderful website, looking for this started out as a hobby after my Mother passed away. I now regret not asking more questions when my relatives were alive about their lives, its just fascinateing when you find something out it could be something so small as my grandmothers height or a scar on a forehead or just finding out my grandmothers fathered died when she was a small child making me wonder how did he die and how was her life after that. Thanks Again
