research on Tomasso De Santis

Post by TomDeSantes »

I have two papers from my great grandfather so I am able to deduce that he came to America and settled in the Boston area in 1899 on the Spartan Prince (did not see on manifesto). He lived in Prezza and was born 1874. His name is written Tommaso DiSanto and also Tomasso De Santis. His only son my grandfather is named De Santes becasue there was no i dotted on his original paperwork and he never changed it oddly. This makes finding geneology precarious for me. But there are many people named De Santis (not many Italians whose name end in a consonant, right?) in the Boston area. Since my grandfather lived into his 90s I did get some oral history. Tomasso's wife Domenica was from Corfinia, she was a Colella. I do not know about her arrival here although I am told she was a midwife which was rather important in a mountain village in her day. I think I may be related to another line of DeSantes' through Tomasso's twin brother Frank - or so I am told. I would love to be able to confirm this relation. Thank you.

Hi Tom,
Tomasso DeSantis was my great-grandfather. Your grandfather Andrew was my grandmother Anna's brother. I have lots of info on the family and constantly looking for more.
Let me know what you need and I'll get it to you. Most everything is posted on my Ancestry page under Lynn Eramo Family Tree but not everything. I decided to buy the Family Tree Maker program which I love and have left the other one but don't work on it.
Tell you father that I'm Kay's daughter from Quincy.

Hi Tom,
My grandmother Anna was your grandfather's sister. I have info on the DeSantis/Colella
family if you're interested. Also found Tommaso's manifest on the Sparten Prince...took me two days. They misspelled his name.

Hi Tom
Have been working with new files just posted for Corfinio, Solmona & Prezza. Have lots of info for you on the DeSantis/Colella Families. Was able to track back 2 more generations. Have been in contact with Carol Cipriani ...she is Louise's (Andrew's sister) granddaughter...we have been comparing notes.
