Can someone please help with a translation of an Atti di Morte for Bartholomeo Margiotta?
http://search.ancestry.com/Browse/view. ... sid=&gskw=
He was born in 1843, his last child was born in 1879 and his widow Maria Ippolita Telesca died in 1936. Looking at the indexes starting in 1936 and working back, this is the first person I found with the correct name so I'm not sure it is my guy. The name Telesca doesn't seem to show up but the name Rosa Maria Clapps is a family name as is Domenico Lovallo and the town Frusci fits in too but all my ancestor's have listed Avigliano as their home and yet I visited distant living relatives in Frusci.
I'm hoping if this is the correct document that I can get birth and marriage info based on his age at death and the birth date of his first child. All of the children came to the US to my knowledge.
I'm trying to fill in a few blanks before I order a family tree for my Dad for Christmas.
Thank you in advance for your help. This website is such a gift to those of us who don't speak Italian. Even with my Italian Genealogical Records book I can't always translate documents especially when it isn't just fill in the blanks spots.
Thanks Again,
Eileen

The Bartolomeo Margiotta in the record you provided (Atti di morte 1908 #199) was 15 days old when he died...
Re: Atti di Morte Translation Margiotta 1908 #299 Avilgiano
That can't be my guy then. Thanks. I'll keep looking.

Can someone please help with a translation of an Atti di Morte for Bartholomeo Margiotta?

This looks like Bartolomeo di Vito Vincenzo? in the index but when I look at the document nothing seems familiar. I can't find his wife's name listed. Not sure if right guy. Will keep checking the 6 years that are left.

Re: Atti di Morte Translation Margiotta 1908 #299 Avilgiano
Hello,
I have looked at all the indexes and in the 1880 book and can't find Bart Margiotta. I did make a note of one from 1883 Atti di Morte for a Bart no. 457 or 458 but I looked at it and it doesn't seem right. Am I missing something?
Also realized Bart's last child Vita Crescenzia was born 29 Mar 1894 Atti di Nascita #265 which looks right but I can't tell if it gives any useful information regarding Bartolomeo Margiotta her father. Any ideas?

Bartolomeo was 48 when Vita Crescenzia was born, putting his birth year ABOUT 1846.
His occupation looks like "segretario" - but maybe not
Mother's age isn't given.

Hi Tessa,
Thanks for your reply. I have Bart's birth date of 2 Sept 1843. I can't find documents going back that far so I was trying to get his parents names, marriage date or death date in other ways but no luck.
On another topic I found this record that is also of interest to me. It is of Vito LoRusso b 7 Jun 1894. His wife is my father's aunt. I am interested in his parents names as he is a LoRusso that married a LoRusso and I can't figure out how they all fit together.
Can you translate relevant information for me. I think his father is Leonardo LoRusso and his mother maybe Caterina something?? Nardozza??? Can't really read it. Thanks for your help. Eileen

Vito was born on the 7th of June 1894 at 8 AM
Father is Leonardo Lorusso, age 31, peasant farmer residing in Avigliano
Mother looks like Caterina Verrastro(?), his wife, peasant farmer, living with him
Child given the name Vito
Witnesses:
Domenico Nardozza(?), 52, peasant farmer
Giuseppe Romaniello, 25, peasant farmer.

OOPS! - Hi Marty sorry about the duplication - the only thing I see differently is the mother's surname.

Heres Canio Margiotta son of Bartolomeo Margiotta and Maria Ippolita Telesca marriage to Rosa Maria Claps 14th Dec 1901 shows Bartolomeo alive so its got to be from 1901 on for his death record wouldnt it be something if he died in 1911 the only death year they dont have on ancestry

I dont know if you have looked at the films of Avigliano (Potenza), 1809-1910 from Family History Library but they have those records and the church records Avigliano (Potenza), 1631-1898 Chiesa cattolica. Parrocchia di Avigliano (Potenza) so you should be able to go way back with a little resarch in your family.
Also heres a little info for you on reading Italian records that will help you get info from the records try the video Basic Italian Research it will help you.
