Sabatino Relatives

Fruitlessly trying to find anything on my grandmother, Paoulina (Pauline) Sabatino, had brother Lawrence and Marion. The men moved to St. Louis, MO area, she married my grandfather Sam Allotta (spelled 3 different ways on marriage certificate, so is her name (Levatino, etc.) in 1921. She died young around 1931, church records burned. Know the cemetary where she is buried, but no marker.

Can't find a trace of her anywhere. Family kept in touch with brothers and family over the years. Can't find her parents' names, supposedly buried in Louisiana, where I live. They were dead when grandmother married, she was an orphan. 18 when married in 1921.

I've tried vital statistics in Louisiana, with nickname Pearl, and every possibility, no luck.
Where do I go from here?

Trying to get in touch with uncle's wife, to see if she knows her husbands grandparents name.

Also, just to clarify, was she born in Italy??

Have you been able to place any of them on a ship manifest or a census?
A census will list immigration year, which can vary, but will help narrow down a time frame. It will also list naturalization info's which can be used to obtain paperwork for further details. Ship manifest may provide town of origin as well as nearest relatives........

According to the 1920 census...

Immigration year 1904 for Lorenzo... born in Italy 1899
Paolina was born in Louisiana... about 1907

So there must be a ship's record somewhere that includes a young Lorenzo... age 5....

Yea.....I finally figured it out.....file size was to big and had to be adjusted

As for the census.....can you make out the name of head of household??
Looks like....."Loioso"......also, I suspect Paulina may have fudged on her age at time of marriage.........she is 13 in 1920, but 18 in 1921????

I also placed her husband on 1910 census with his parents....name is spelled Alotta........

Wldspirit, you do great census research...

It does look like Loioso... but using the Ellis Island data base for surname searches... it could also be Laiosa, Loiosa...

Regarding immigration of Sabbatino family: was any town named in immigration record for Lorenzo Sabbatino, or Guiseppina
Would I be able to access the immigration data for Lorenzo when he came over 1896/98 or when he returned to US in 1902 and wife came over in 1904.

The census images that were kindly linked earlier on by wldspirit - (over 2 months ago) are gone... maybe they just expired...

Not sure if you had a chance to see them... If not, let us know and we can relink...

Census records will only tell you the country...and the year of immigration... not the particular Italian town...

Ships manifests may or may not say which Italian town they came from...

A ship's record still needs to be found.

I did not see the images. According to 1910 census, Lorenzo born around 1860 came to US in 1896/8. He must have returned to Italy, came back in 1902, then wife and child came over in 1904. Is that correct? Is there a port of entry for any of these immigrations?

Census records do not contain a port of entry. Only information will be a date of entry, citizenship status and on some the year citizenship was granted.

Luckily... wldspirit who found this info earlier on provided the original name transcription and the Roll #, ED #.... which made it easier for me to search and relink...
