Advice on Request for Records - Supino (FR)

Post by maria280 »

I want to request some of my ancestors' records (birth, death, marriage) from the Commune of Supino (FR).

To understand what I need to do I have read over the sites recommended on this forum, such as http://www.circolocalabrese.org/resourc ... civile.asp and http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters.html

but after reading through - I am still unclear if it is best to:

1. ask for several ancestor's records at once, for instance great-grandfather and great-grandmother and grandmother? or is it better to try one ancestor request at a time?
2. send International Reply Coupons with the request? - advice seems to differ on this.....
3. send my request letter as registered mail or regular mail?

Over six months ago I tried a request via the email address listed on Supino's site and have never gotten a response.

Any suggestions from experience?
thanks.

1. ask for several ancestor's records at once, for instance great-grandfather and great-grandmother and grandmother? Not a good idea or is it better to try one ancestor request at a time? Yes, but you may receive more, depending on the comune
2. send International Reply Coupons with the request? - advice seems to differ on this..... It is best to send only a Self-Addressed UNSTAMPED envelope.
3. send my request letter as registered mail or regular mail? Regular mail should do it. Then you can follow up with email IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE A REPLY.

thanks.

If the records are for before 1871-5 they don't have anything. Supino was in the Papal States and anything before 1871 was taken care of by the church.
The same priest covers all the parishes but he has been ill recently. I am trying to set up a search there for after all the snow has melted.

Hi,
Just letting you know that I got a very prompt reply from Supino, after only about 2 weeks.
I followed your advice and asked for one relative search. I forgot to include a SASE!
I sent the letter via airmail and they sent me a reply via email.
Thanks again.
