Help reading phrase in death record

Post by lcafarel »

Can anyone help me read and translate the attached phrase from an Estratto di Morte for Maria Gaetana Cafarelli? This writing is especially difficult to read. I'm trying to figure out if Maria Gaetana, the "defunta," died before or after her husband, Giuseppe Pellicciaro.

Thanks for your help.

Here's a link to the full record:

This handwriting is very squished and hard to read. Unfortunately, most of the records from Ferrandina that I've been reading are in this hand.

That's difficult!
I read "La defunta era vedova di Giuseppe Galliano".
She died after her husband.

Thanks. The key word I was missing was "era," and I wasn't sure about the gender of "vedova." The husband's name is Pellicciaro, known from other records. Tough to read, isn't it?

Thanks again!
