same person, different names

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

same person, different names

Post by castle34 »

My husband is applying for Italian citizenship at the NY Italian Consulate in 2013. Here's the problem. The Consulate insists that all documents contain the same name for a person. My husband's mother was born in the United States. Her birth certificate lists her first name as Giuseppina along with her correct maiden name. The certificate for her first marriage lists her name as Josephine along with her correct maiden name. Her second marriage certificate lists her name as Josephine, along with the last name of her first husband, not her maiden name. The Vital Records Office at the town and state level says that no name can be changed since my husband's mother is now deceased. How can I prove to the Italian Consulate that all three names apply to the same person? Thanks for a reply.
