I am looking for information on my great-grandfather's family from Corleone, Sicily. His name was Antonino Latino. He was born on October 22nd 1869 in Corleone, Sicily. He married Vincenza Giancola who was born on May 8th 1877. They moved to Donaldsonville, Louisiana in 1892.

It appears that his father's name was Gaetano Latino and his mother was Angela Mannina

Thank you so much. I do not have any other information about them before coming to the US. I do know that there first child was Angelina and there second child was Gietario. They were both born after coming to the US. in 1892 and 1893. They moved to Bayou Goula, LA and then to Donaldsonville, LA and lived there until they died. That is my paternal grandmother's family.

My paternal grandfather's family is also from Corleone, Sicily and his name was Peter Ficara. I have found a family connection on this website and I am so excited.

My paternal great mother's family is also from Corleone, Sicily her name was Leonarda Lombardo. It appears they attend the San Martino Church in Corleone.

So all of my father's family was from Corleone, Sicily. I am the second generation born in the US. I would love to learn more about my family. I know it takes time to fit the connections together.

I am hoping to find the children of Antonino Latino from Donaldsonville. In particular Lina Latino/Latina - born in 1892 which would be the same year your great grandfather moved to Donaldsonville.

Lena would be Nathan Todora's (my deceased husband's) great-grandmother, and also the great-grandmother of my sister-in-law Ann Todora Nolan, the only survivor in my husband's immediate family.

All I know is that Lena Latino/Latina married John Viola and gave birth to my mother-in-law Frances Viola Todora in Smoke Bend. The Viola's did move to Melville in St. Landry Parish some years later. I do know that Lena died young and that John Viola remarried.

I am doing a family tree for my four children and Lena is a missing link...I really hope she was the daughter of Antonino Latino because then we would have the name of her mother from you as well. I hope this is the answer we have been looking for! Thank You! Kathleen (Katie) Todora

There is a family tree on Ancestry for the Viola family that has Lena Latina, born 1891 in Palermo, Italy.
She was married to John Frank Viola.
One child is listed... Sam Viola, born in 1917.
Death for Lena Latina Viola is given as Sept. 1921 in St. Landry Parish.

Parents for the above Lena are listed as JOE LATINA and LUCY GAGLINA
Owner of the family tree is "ymviola"
